Harley Dog Days IX -“Remembering the Times”

DELRAY BEACH, FL (July 7, 2010) – Engines roared as almost 300 enthusiastic Harley and animal lovers took part in the recent Harley Dog Days event benefiting PAWS (Pets Are Worth Saving), an auxiliary of the Humane Society of Broward County.

Harley Dog Days IX, “Remembering the Times,” was staged in remembrance of Bruce Rossmeyer, a longtime supporter of the shelter and its many programs and services.

Delray Beach executive and philanthropist Arthur E. Benjamin’s nonprofit organizations, American Dog Rescue and the Gail L. & Arthur E. Benjamin Foundation, served as joint presenting sponsors for the event. Chairwoman Melody Saleh said the evening netted more than 5,000.

Guests, decked out in their Harley gear, enjoyed the festivities at the waterfront home of Ron Picou and Michelle DiMarco in Fort Lauderdale. They sipped specialty martinis compliments, savored hors d’oeuvres and hand-rolled cigars during the cocktail hour, and had the opportunity to bid on items in the silent auction.

Doc Reno from BIG 105.9 radio was the master of ceremonies. The Rossmeyer family was presented a gift during a dedication to the late Bruce Rossmeyer.

One of the highlights was a live auction hosted by auctioneer Gordon Latz. The largest item, sold for ,000, was a 2000 Harley Davidson Road King donated by Ted and Patti Morse. Mark and Clark with their dueling pianos act then humored the crowd. Next, the winning ticket was drawn for a 2010 Harley Davidson Street Glide; the lucky winner was Anthony Palermo, of Pompano Beach. The gathering concluded with live music from Fifth Avenue Music.
